Vichy DermaFinish Corrective Stick; Swatches of Shades & Review

Vichy Dermafinish/Dermablend Corrective Stick
Price $28 for 4.5 grams
(Approx $6.60/gram)

Vichy says-
High coverage & flawless finish without a mask effect. A high coverage cream stick with 12 hours of long lasting wear while providing an even skin tone and a lightweight feel. Recommended for minor to moderate targeted skin flaws such as under eye circles, blemishes, age spots and scars.

High Coverage, Lightweight, 12 hour wear? Sounds promising....Keep reading to see if Dermafinish Corrective Stick lives up to its claims!

Basically DermaFinish Corrective Stick is marketed as a concealer. While some stick concealers are absolutely fabulous and worth a hefty price tag, Dermafinish Corrective Stick Concealer just isn't. The ingredients are simple, outdated, and while none of them are particularly harmful, they are cheap very cheap and wouldn't be worth considering if the cost was 1/5th of the $28.

While emollient cream compact or stick concealers are often an excellent choice for those with normal-dry skin, the waxes which hold the stick's form aren't suitable for oily skin and could lead to clogged pores. Furthermore, DermaFinish has tried to market this as a semi-matte finish or cream to powder formula, but a true cream-powder formula has silicones which lead to the powdery finish whereas the Corrective Stick uses only TALC (as in baby powder) and they use a lot of it. When you see Talc listed as the third ingredient of a Stick Formulation like this you can expect a chalky finish and, unfortunately, a mask like effect is exactly what you can expect from DermaFinish Corrective Stick, and while the four available shades may not be natural looking, they will cover up most skin woes, just don't expect a graceful or unnoticeable performance!

Instead of just choosing one skin type to market this to and instead of trying to come up with a concealer that will suit dry skin or oily skin, DermaFinish took the cheap way out. As a consumer, I am honestly offended that DermaFinish Expects people to buy a product because its one of the most expensive options in the drugstore, but in reality both the formula and finish prevent it from being a suitable option for any skintype!

For a stick concealer worth considering, try either Hourglass Corrective Concealer Stick, Tarte Waterproof 12 Hour Concealer Stick, or Mally Age Rebel Concealer Stick. All three options are cruelty free and the latter option has a silicone base instead of an emollient one making it an option for those with normal-semi oily skin!
