Hard Candy has always gotten a lot of praise for their cult-favorite Glamouflage Full Cover Concealer, but their Just Face It Foundation has really been an underrated performer.
Many people don't know about it as there really isn't a lot of discussion about Hard Candy's Just Face It Foundation, but those who have tried it usually have very passionate feelings about it and either love it or hate it.
The number one complaint, would have to be the consistency. While I liked the previous formula's performance, the texture was definitely on the skeevy side. There were very prevalent flakes of what many people called plastic (I think it was mica?) which were visible when you swatched the foundation. I couldn't notice them once I applied the foundation, but a lot of people could see them and they found it very unsettling. After all, how can you achieve an even finish when your foundation is, well, gritty bordering on chunky?
Luckily, Hard Candy listened and they listened good! They aren't advertising the new formula because its really not a new formula, its the same recipe they're just mixing it differently. I was excited enough when I saw the new shade options that I picked up "Ultra Light" and when I ever opened it and saw that it didn't have the familiar texture I was ecstatic.
Hard Candy Just Face It Foundation claims to be a 4-in-1 product; Hard Candy says that Just Face It will serve as your Primer, Foundation, Powder and Concealer all in one and for the most part, they're actually right. You can use Hard Candy Just Face It as all of the above if you're in a real pinch (although just because you can doesn't mean you should).
The formula for Just Face It is actually very similar to foundations like Makeup Forever's Mat Velvet Foundation (which costs $37.) The finish is matte and powdery smooth and will certainly last all day. Hard Candy Just Face It Foundation is a formula which is definitely suited best for those with normal-oily skin although those with dry skin should be o.k. if they moisturize properly.
Coverage is in the medium range and full coverage can be achieved very easily, or Just Face It can be sheered out. It's a great example of a foundation that is truly oil-absorbing and mattifying without being over-drying- Hard Candy has really done a great job with the performance of Just Face It and now that they've fixed the little hiccups it's really a slam dunk. Plus it's $7 and Cruelty Free!

The only other widespread complaint about Just Face It Foundation, was the limited shade range. I really didn't find the shades to be too offensive or limited, but then again, they complimented yellow & peach undertones and did little to cater to those with pink undertones. The new shades however, such as light beige, seem to be more suitable for those skintones. Now, if they would just come out with some darker shades everyone would be happy...
