Hard Candy Glamoflauge has been a cult favorite for the past few years. It is known to produce some of the best coverage available at the drugstore and has inspired its little sister Hard Candy Galmouflage Lite Blendable Concealer which was released earlier this year. This has prompted me to do a full review & breakdown of the Original Hard Candy Galmouflage Heavy Duty (Tattoo) Concealer so you can see the differences between the two...
***If you haven't noticed by now, one of my pet peeves with Glamouflage is the spelling. I have been spelling it Glamouflage in posts for months and months. My attention to detail may have been poor, but my logic was simple-
CamoUFLAGE-Camo+ GLAMO= GLAMOUFLAGE; right? Apparently not. The correct spelling of Glamouflage is Glamoflauge, so instead of a simple play on words, Hard Candy relocated the "u" and has totally screwed me up. I don't know how most people who don't own the product would spell it, so I am going to continue to alternate between the correct & incorrect spelling because the incorrect spelling is based on logic....well, sort of!***
Hard Candy Glamoflauge differs from the afore mentioned concealers in quite a few ways, but the main difference is the formula. Kat Von D's Lock it Tattoo Concealer and Makeup Forever's Full Coverage Concealer, are both Oil-Free, Long Lasting formulas with a self-setting matte finish, whereas Glamouflage is an emollient based concealer and will have to be set with powder unless you have very dry skin.
Personally, I prefer to use an emollient concealer under my eyes for dark circles because they're less likely to dry out and cake up which only makes fine lines and wrinkles worse. Hard Candy Glamoflauge is petroleum based just like Laura Mercier Secret Concealer or Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer, but unlike Laura & Bobbi's, Hard Candy is a liquid.
The initial texture is very thick and creamy, but it can be a little chalkier than some of the high end liquid emollient concealers like Tarte Marcuja Concealer or Stila Perfecting Concealer. The chunkiness is something that has been an issue with Hard Candy's Just Face It Foundation (which works well with the Glamouflage concealer), but they seem to have corrected the foundation formula and are now thoroughly mixing it.
Aside from the initial uneven texture (which is NOT noticeable upon application,) there really isn't anything negative about the formula for Glamouflage, infact, its actually a quite formidable performer and an excellent concealer for any price, let alone for $6.
The shade range is somewhat limited, although they have improved it recently by adding Ultra Light and Light/Medium. (Initially, there was only Light, Medium and Tan.) One thing to note about choosing a shade is that it runs light, very light, but this is common with emollient formulas. (Long-Wearing formulas tend to dry much darker.) Because it doesn't set, you can be assured that there will be a certain level of color purity as the day wears on and that's a huge plus.
Another bonus is the included pencil which is a pretty decent pencil by itself. I believe there are only two or three shades of the pencil, but its designed to function like a lip liner and simply remove/neutralize pigment before you apply the concealer so that you need less product, and for that purpose it most certainly works well.
Hard Candy claims that you can cover a tattoo with Glamoflauge, and, while many people have stated that its not possible, it can certainly be done with a bit of effort and a few steps. Provided that you start by outlining the tattoo with the pencil and then alternate thin layers of Concealer with powder, you should have no problem concealing even the most humiliating ink!
All in all, if you're on a budget and you can find Glamoflauge at your local Wal-Mart (I know some sell out very fast) its worth picking up. Even if you find you abhor it, its only $6 and you can usually return it. If you have dry, aging eyes and are looking for a quick way to moisturize and conceal any fine lines or wrinkles, Glamoflauge may be just the pick me up you're looking for!
If you find that the original Hard Candy Glamoflauge is a bit too pigmented or you're looking for something more blemish appropriate, you may want to consider Hard Candy's New Glamoflauge Lite Blendable Concealer Pen which is a dual ended, silicone based cream concealer and also works quite well!

Heyy, good review! :)) but i was wondering if you could tell me: is ultra light really the lightest shade?? Because in the swatches it looks very similar, if not a teeny tiny bit darker than the shade light. Thank you for your time :)
