I love so many products from so many national brands like Pantene and Olay, but unfortunately they test on animals so I won't purchase from them, yet I still manage to use every single product I love everyday! How do I do it? Keep Reading.....
Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector Anti-Aging BB Cream, Medium/Deep
It's pretty simple actually. The downside of being a national brand is that they tend to be money hungry and test on animals by selling in China. That sucks. The silver lining for consumers however, is that when companies get to be big, other companies copy them and create hundreds of nearly identical generic products which are exclusive to the United States and are not tested on animals!

One such example, is CVS Brand, another is the Equate brand which is Walmart's store brand. If you look at the ingredients of your favorite products, you will see that they are absolutely identical formulas, and 99% of the time, if you have both the name brand and generic product in your hand, you won't be able to tell the difference!

What was different about the CVS Renewing & Oil Free BB Creams, is that they're copying a color product. It's not skincare or hair care, so the shade of each version is key and must be spot on. In this case CVS was mimicking Garnier BB Creams,
CVS Renewing=Garnier Anti-Aging,
 CVS Oil Free=Garnier Oily Skin

I swatched all four BB Creams in Light/Medium below so that you can see precisely how good of a job CVS did. I think they hit the nail on the head!

As you can see, they're pretty close. This lends hope to the idea that maybe generic cosmetics will be next?

As for the actual performance of CVS BB Creams, they work and function the same way as Garnier versions and the ingredients are copied almost exactly. The problem for me, is that they copied everything, down to the fragrance and irritating ingredients Garnier uses which is unfortunate and means that I won't be considering them for daily use, but if you're a Garnier BB Cream fan, save some money & bunnies & pick up CVS's version!

  1. I have used both Garnier & CVS BB creams & preferred CVS, but now I can't find it except on Amazon, etc. Would love to know why? Did Garnier file suit? Is there something harmful in the products? Can't find the Garnier in stores either...
