Smashbox has added 3 new shades to their 5 shade line up for their Camera Ready BB Cream. This is likely because it keeps things simpler and the new Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream is available in 8 shades as well.
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (and the Camera Ready CC Cream) are both excellent examples of Lauder Company BB & CC Creams. Smashbox took the typical Lauder BB Base (that has been used in Mac Prep + Prime Beauty Balm, Clinique Age Defense BB Cream, Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream, and Estee Lauder's Blemish Ready Beauty Balm, Daywear Antioxidant BB Cream, and Doublewear All-Day Glow BB Cream,) and really did a fabulous job tweaking it and making it their own.
In addition to being available in 8 shades which will suit fair to deep skintones, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream will provide Light coverage that should be more than adequate coverage for those with minimal flaws to wear alone during the day. Those with more moderate skin concerns will find that Smashbox's BB Cream works equally as well when used under foundation as a one-step primer and sunscreen. Unlike many sun protection products on the market, Smashbox BB Cream provides ample UVB & UVA protection and, despite the satin finish, it lacks the greasy residue many find unappealing with certain sunscreens.
Smashbox's BB Cream may not be a one-size-fits-all product (nothing is), but if you're curious about BB Creams or are looking to save a step in your skincare/makeup routine, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream is definitely one to consider.
