Lancome Maquicomplet; Full Coverage Concealer; Review & Swatches of Shades

(Full Cover) Lancome Maquicomplet Concealer
Price: $30.50 for about 5ml
About $6 a ml

Lancome claims that Maquicomplet Full Coverage concealer will hide flaws, blemishes & dark circles with full, yet natural looking coverage. Enriched with a hydrating botanical complex, anti-oxidant protection & light diverting agents, Maquicomplet minimizes the appearance of under-eye circles and winkles, while protecting against enviormental damage. The result: Covers imperfections with a natural looking finish."
Here's the dealio on Maquicomplet: for the most part, it does in fact live up to its claims. It will provide medium-full coverage and it does have a hydrating and emollient formula which makes it great for aging eyes. That being said, those with oily skin will need to set it and may want to consider using it on blemishes very cautiously if you're prone to product induced break-outs.

It comes in a whopping 13 shades, two of which are correctors, no I'm sorry, they're "Correcteurs", (that's corrector with an elegant French twist, and naturally, we should expect nothing less from Lancome!) The two correctors are pink & yellow which are great for neutralizing dark circles, although I always caution against using a concealer & corrector which are the same formula since they can get muddy real fast!

Now, while I like the corrector shades quite a bit, the rest of the shades are a let down for me as I don't have a dead-on match, but Ivoire can be made to work. For the most part the rest of the shades are relatively neutral, however some of the darker shades tend to get a little rusty orange looking which is ironic since that's precisely the tone needed in the lighter shades.

This is a good concealer, but there are many many many similar, Cruelty Free products with similar formulas, many of which are relatively new releases and you may not have had the chance to try such as Laura Geller Creaseless Concealer, Line Smoothing Pen, or It Cosmetics Eyelift in a Tube, Dual Ended Concealer. You could also try Too Faced Flawless Flexible Concealer, or Stila Perfecting Concealer. Both of those have ample shade options while the first two choices are somewhat limited with 3-4 shades (although I would pick those 3-4 over Lancome's 12 in this case.) Stila & Too Faced are also slightly thicker in consistency. If you don't mind going even thicker, your options will expand further as you will have Tarte Marcuja Creasless Concealer, It Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, or, for a cheap drugstore thrill (we all need those sometimes), try Hard Candy Glamouflage Heavy Duty Concealer for $6 at Walmart!

If its the thinner consistency you prefer, try Laura Geller's Real Deal Concealer or e.l.f. Maximum Coverage Concealer which costs a whopping $3!

Also note that with the exceptions of the first two choices listed, all come in squeeze tubes and give you 10-20ml as oppossed to the 4-5 ml that is standard with a wand!

I would like to give proper credit to my brother for these photos, as he not only waited patiently while I swatched each shade, he also kept a master list so that I didn't mix any up. Needless to say, this is not how many 22 year old guys want to spend their Sunday!!!!

  3. Thanks for the info! I've been using shade Porcelaine, perfect for my fair cool/pink complexion. Having a hard time finding it, has it been discontinued? Camee would be next shade but also HTF. Thanks for your help!
