Promising to "eliminate unwanted shine, eliminate skin dullness, and smooth and soften skin," Flower sets the expectation bar pretty high with their BB Cream, but does it meet expectations?

Like so many celebrities, Drew Barrymore has branched off into the cosmetic world with her own line of products. She prides herself on taking a "hands on" approach to the development of all her products which are allegedly "high end products at drugstore prices."

If you haven't had the chance to try any Flower Beauty products, I highly recommend you do so. The Flower About Face Foundation, Flower SkinCognito Foundation Stick, and Flower Triplet Pocket Concealer are all wonderful complexion products and her color products are high performing as well, but never mind those for now, the question is, how does the BB Cream perform?

Flower BB Cream has a lot going for it. It has a matte finish and nearly full coverage, and it will hold up for the better part of the day if worn alone, or will act as a fabulous primer if worn under a foundation, and it will help to control oil for those with oily skin.

The negatives of Flower BB Cream (if you want to call them that) are minimal. The primary issues are more false impressions that a consumer would likely have before making the purchase as opposed to formulary issues of which there are virtually none. For example, labeling it a "BB Cream" may be a little misleading to American consumers because coverage is vastly superior to what is typically on the market. Flower BB Cream also has a finish which is more on the matte side than the hydrating side which is another surprise people may be in for.

Because of the coverage level it does offer, having only 4 shades may be a little shy of ideal, but the shades are well matched and for this price it won't break the bank if you have to buy two and mix them. My perfect match is about a 70/30 mix of BB1 & BB2, but I can adjust that depending on the season.

In truth, Flower BB Cream is more of a foundation than a typical BB Cream, but it is a good foundation and one worth trying, just be sure to use something with SPF in it underneath.

***Those looking for sheer coverage may want to look at Flower's Tinted Moisturizer, and those who want a more hydrating formula should consider Flower About Face Foundation or Flower Skincognito Foundation Stick.***

  1. I actually love using it as a primer. I started using it that way when I noticed the first few ingredients were identical to those in one of my primers.

    1. Hi Cassi,
It's really bizarre isn't it? Most foundations that have this much coverage don't work this well as a primer even with similar ingredients, but Flower BB really does do a better job priming than most primers!
I'm generally not a huge primer person, but I'm glad someone else found that this works well as a primer because I really thought I was losing my mind!
