If you've never used a stick concealer, don't start with Tarte's 12 Hour Waterproof Concealer with Amazonian Clay because without having prior stick concealer experience, you will have no way of making a reasonable comparison...

Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Waterproof Concealer Stick is in a stick concealer league of its own. Many, if not most stick concealers are considered outdated, They often are thick, cakey, pinky and to get sufficient pigmentation you need to apply so much you look like you're wearing a pot of wax on your face.

*I am only referring to concealer application under the eyes, as applying any stick foundation or concealer carries certain risks when using on blemishes (due to the waxes & emollients which hold it in solid form, and MAY, for certain people, clog pores or delay the healing of blemishes.)*

Now, suppose you used stick foundations or concealers years ago and have since "outgrown" them. This is the case with many American women who feel that the whole PanCake & PanStik epidemic is a time to forget. If you are one of these women, Tarte 12 Hour Water Proof Full Coverage Concealer Stick with Amazonian Clay is exactly what the doctor prescribed to cure your fear of complexion cosmetics that come in stick form.

Aside from the inclusion of "Amazonian Clay," Tarte didn't need to follow the current trends of coming up with a clever marketing strategy. They didn't need to make any bold or unreasonable claims, mainly, because the Tarte 12 Hour Waterproof Concealer just works. It goes on smoothly it almost feels like a liquid, but without the gross greasy feeling of Benefit's Creaseless Concealer (if you haven't tried that one, don't.) It is richly pigmented and not too oily so that it provides excessive shine.

While people with oily skin will ofcourse need to set any emollient product with powder, this formulation is such that those who have dry-normal skin will be able to fair without a setting aid. Typically, any emollient or wax product that is readily absorbed, will have an overly drying, chalky, & cakey effect. They usually need to be used with extreme caution and applied properly to get any kind of satisfactory result (Such as Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage), but with Tarte's 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer, that's not the case. In fact, I would venture so far to say that application is virtually fool proof.

I have applied with the stick directly, used a brush, and used just my fingers, and all of the methods provided beautiful results. Wear time will vary. As with any emollient product, it will depend on your skin type, if/how you set it, and the weather. This formula is a waterproof one, but note that for best results you should set it with powder if you're planning on being very aggressive.

The shade range is absolutely lovely. I use fair/Light and occasionally will mix in a tad of Light/Medium Beige in the Summer months. The only shade not pictured below is Light, but if anyone requests it, I will swatch it on my next trip. I definitely recommend this one, and I do it in good conscience since it's CRUELTY FREE like all Tarte Products!
