CRUELTY FREE!!!

Marc Jacobs released his cosmetics line last year with the inclusion of his Full Coverage (and allegedly "remarkable") concealer which certainly has some very interesting properties...
I have to admit, I was really hesitant to try Marc Jacobs line. I'm not sure what my aversion was, but I would suspect it has something to do with the extreme disappointment I experienced with cosmetic lines from some other notable fashion designers- namely Calvin Klein & his CK One Color line.

It may be because my expectations were so low for Marc Jacobs that his products have continuously blown me away, but I really have been impressed with all of his complexion products that I've tried including his Super Charged Genius Gel Foundation, his Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation, his Remedy Concealer pen, and now, his Re(Marc)able Concealer which is indeed remarkable.

The biggest complaint you're likely to hear about Marc Jacobs' products is the price tag. No doubt $32 is a bit steep for a concealer, but, and this is a BIG but- IT COSTS ABOUT 1/3 OF WHAT BOBBI BROWN OR LAURA MERCIER CHARGE PER GRAM!

Yes, it sucks a little bit that you have to tie up more money initially, but you get almost 6 grams of product as opposed to Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer or Laura Mercier Secret Concealer where you get only 1.2 grams of product!

As for the product itself, formula wise it is extremely similar to other petroleum based concealers (like Bobbi or Laura's), so if you've tried either one of those, you know exactly what to expect. Re(Marc)able is a perfect concealer option for those with dry skin as it does have hydrating properties, and it will work under the eyes for those with oily skin as well, although they will likely have to set it with powder.

It performs equally well over or under foundation, and I especially like using these types of concealers with a long-wearing foundation formula since the concealer will counteract any drying effect caused by the foundation,

This type of concealer is great for redness or other facial discolorations, but its not your best option if you're looking to conceal blemishes. The emollient formula won't do anything to help your blemishes heal, and unless you use powder, the satin finish will likely draw attention to any concealed areas.

The one caveat in the formula, and this is true for most of Marc's products, is that they included Myrrh in the formula. Now its not noticeably fragrant at all, but it is a bit of a disappointment that they included any fragrant extracts since they just aren't necessary and could be potentially irritating.

The shade range is great. While 7 shades may not seem like a lot, the available shades are all awesome and should suit the majority of skin tones from very fair to a deeper tan. Those with very deep skin may not find a match, but for concealer you can usually go 1.5 shades lighter than your skintone without a problem! Another very nice aspect, is the fact that Marc Jacobs is consistent with his shades in all of his products and if you use one product, you likely know your shade in the others!

Aside from the minor hiccup of fragrance, Marc Jacobs did a great job with the formula and this is a great substitue if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer or Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer. Plus, in addition to being cheaper by 70% Marc Jacobs is Cruelty Free which is a HUGE plus!

  1. I love the shade names! Who doesn't want to put something on their face named Young, Perfect or Bright? Just to be sure, when you say facial discoloration, does that include dark circles? My sole reason for using concealer is to cover up my sad panda eyes unfortunately.

    1. The problem with the names like "young" & "perfect" is that I WANT to use shades named perfect...but my shade is awake! I'm really on a huge marc jacobs kick.

His Transformative Mousse Foundation and Remedy Concealer Pen are great too, and his Super Charged Genius Gel is an awesome foundation but he included a fragrance which is noticeable, but tolerable! I really was surprised how much I like all of his (cruelty free) products!

  2. Also forgot to mention having been through just the posts on your first page, your site has already landed on my favorites. You swatch every shade and offer so many pictures of said swatches not to mention the price breakdown. It's so amazingly helpful. Definitely telling everyone I know.

    1. Hi Kay,
Thank you so much for your compliments! I'm glad I could be of help!
I too have horrible dark circles and they're my primary need for a concealer as well. This is a great option for dark circles, just beware of what you're getting which is a satin, dewy finish similar to that of Bobbi Brown's or Laura Merciers. If you have dry skin it will probably be absorbed and you won't need to set it, but if you have oily skin you may want to set it with a LIGHT dusting of powder or silicone based setter like Mally Face Defender.

I usually will use an emollient concealer either over or under a long wearing/oil free/matte foundation. That way the foundation helps to "set" the concealer and I don't end up with the drying or caking under my eyes that I would get if I used a drying concealer AND foundation, but that's just me and I really dont like powdering!

So yes, this will work great under eyes and will definitely brighten up your dark circles and make them invisible!

Thanks so much for commenting, I really appreciate it! Tell your friends too that I will be (hopefully REAL soon) be doing a giveaway for readers, I just have so much other stuff to get caught up on beforehand!
