L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush was one of three new complexion products L'Oreal released for their extensive Visible Lift line for Spring/Summer 2014.

(The other two products were L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation and L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer). All of these products claim to come complete with scientifically advanced "Opti-Blur" technology...
As I said in the Visible Lift Blur Foundation review, Opti Blur Technology is really just referring to the silicone based formula that creates a soft-focus effect and diffuses the look of imperfections. There's nothing special about it, 90% of well formulated products that have been released recently contain these same ingredients and many claim to be "High Definition" or the like. They tend to work well in a good product but they're not exclusive to L'Oreal by any means!

As for the Visible Lift Blur Blush itself, it is an embarrassingly obvious attempt at copying Mally's Liquid Face Defender Blush which is a truly ingenuitive product and uses the same technology as Mally's Poreless Face Defender. Sometimes drugstore products end up meeting or exceeding expectations set by higher end companies so there was a change that L'Oreal's Visible Lift Blush would excel...but it doesn't.

The main difference here is the actual ingredients L'Oreal used. They substituted Mally's signature ingredient (Polymethylsilsesquioxane) with semi-water-soluble Dimethicone which means that the results never really "set" into place so they don't last nearly as long.

While Dimethicone CAN have mattifying properties like Polymethylsilsesquioxane, you need alot more product which means that you need to use more of L'Oreal Visible Lift Blush than of Mally's Liquid Face Defender and because L'Oreal's version is just as pigmented, the results are far less spectacular and natural looking.

The three shades are inconsistent. 201 Soft Peach and 202 Soft Pink are both lovely shades which have an even texture but 203 Soft Berry is a nightmare. More than three bottles of 203 Soft Berry were tested to make sure the chunky, gritty, thick texture wasn't a fluke and sadly, the results were consistently awful with all three tubes.

Paula's Choice commented that all three shades were matte but that statement is just wrong. Yes the blush itself is semi-matte, but each of the three shades has a generous amount of glittery sheen mixed in so buyer beware. Soft Peach had more of a golden glitter, Soft Pink had a silvery glitter and Soft berry was more of a diamond-color neutral glitter, (if that makes sense).

Furthermore, while Mally's Liquid Face Defender Blush has a thick texture which allows you to dab the product over your foundation, L'Oreal's version is much thinner and requires blending; except you can't rub or blend without removing your makeup!

Considering Mally's Liquid Face Defender Blush is on sale right now for the same price per ounce as L'Oreal's Visible Lift Blur Blush, you'd probably be better off with Mally's Cruelty Free version...(if you don't like disappointment at least...)
